This unique communion dress was made from the mother's ball gown wedding dress. It features a beaded bodice, cap sleeves, and a beautiful silk organza skirt with a silk lining and sash with a big bow – all combining to create a stunning and sustainable fashion statement perfect for the sacrament and special occasion.
This dress both preserves the past and makes a stylish statement in the present. This one-of-a-kind communion dress made a very special day even more memorable for the girl and her mother!
The mother's dress had two beautiful textile layers. The top layer was a floral beaded tulle, and the second layer was a floral lace. The oldest daughter chose the beaded tulle for her Communion dress, so the lace layer was saved for her younger sister.
Since I was able to remove the beaded tulle without cutting into the rest of the dress, I did not use the lining of the wedding dress for the first Communion dress. I decided that the wedding dress could be saved for a rehearsal dress, if the younger sister wore her older sister's Communion dress.
It's truly a pleasure to make Communion dresses, but even more fun when I work from the mother's recycled wedding dress.
Thank you, J & L, for working with me!
This is the best First Communion photo I have ever seen! :)
Congratulations to all the First Holy Communicants and may God bless them!
