I've always considered crafting custom First Holy Communion dresses among my favorite work projects. This sacrament holds immense significance for each girl, who eagerly anticipates finding or creating her own special dress for the sacred occasion. This year, I had the pleasure of creating more Communion dresses, including collaborating with local girls to bring their visions to life.
One particularly memorable project involved a girl and her mother who visited Anagrassia Sip'n Sews to transform the mother's wedding gown into a First Communion dress. Together, we embarked on a journey of design, pattern-making, beadwork, fabric cutting, sewing, and fittings. It was a joyous experience collaborating with them, and I was very impressed by the mother's sewing skills and the girl's creative vision.
Another highlight was crafting a gown for my niece, a true fashionista in her family. Together with her mother, she perused photos on my website and took charge of designing her own First Communion gown, complete with a self-made tulle veil. Her vision included a high neck adorned with ivory geometric floral lace and a voluminous tulle skirt. Inspired by a previous creation, she requested a diamond white silk wool sash and satin buttons, opting for light ivory tones and cap sleeves over a bright white.

I must admit, she designed a truly stunning gown, and her creativity left me inspired. In fact, I've asked her to design more gowns for my collection!
Overall, it was a delightful First Holy Communion season. My daughter was by my side for most of the work and fittings. We really enjoyed everyone who came into the Anagrassia atelier for fittings, sewing classes, and alterations. Thank you!
May God bless and protect all the children who received the sacrament this spring.
